SUMO Project - Video installation
Gaston Soucy and Ruth Alejandra Mora are Architects registered with the Ontario Association of Architects with Master degrees from the University of Toronto in Urban Design and Architecture respectively. Their combined experience includes architecture, urban design, landscape, furniture, curatorship, artwork, installations, etc. resulting from an obsession for all forms of art and design which led them to establish Suzita Morita Inc. – A.K.A. SUMO Project. SUMO’s practice derives from the belief that “specialization is for insects”, poetry can be found in the prosaic, beauty in the ugly and mundane, playfulness in the utilitarian and, in doing more with the least amount of available resources.

Justin Huang Ford - aka dj_navi
Navi is Justin Huang Ford, who first emulated the amen break using a combination of the base of his hand and his thumb on his grade 5 homeroom desk. He went on to become a Kiwanis award winning Suzuki Method piano player, and a rhythm guitar player in a plethora of self created bands throughout high-school.
He returned to the breakbeat while completing his Bachelors of Architecture at Carleton University. This time utilizing a friends pair of Gemini’s that were a real crapper to keep in pitch, a similarly junky Gemini mixer, and some filthy drum and bass/jungle plates. He has since refined his djing skills while rocking out anything that has intricate drums, rude bwoy bass, and rides atop dense layers of atmospherics.
In 2005 he started [spatial breakbeat research] which mixes a wide range of mediums (architecture, fiction, poetry, music, graphics, animation, web design, illustrative art) to create an immersive environment that adds texture and depth to urban investigations.
His illustrative work has always been informed and influenced by the sights and sounds that he surrounds him - architecture, breakbeats, urbanism, and anime are some of the ingredients on display . Two series of work entitled "a slight refrain" and "two shades darker" have been displayed both in Toronto, Canada and Santiago, Chile.
Most recently, he has spent his nights at work in the studio carefully composing intricately textured music which blends his diverse history of musical passion; while spending his days as the project architect on an ambitious project at a Toronto architectural firm.
